I love round things so it really was just a matter of time before I came up with a round bag. To be honest, I designed one for my first book, The Bag Boutique but I wanted to make it a little bigger and give it a modern makeover.
Because our son is flying into Berlin this evening to visit us for Christmas (we get a whole lovely month together), I decided to call it the Berlin bag out of pure gratitude for that lovely city. I have seen Tris only twice this year due to COVID and the prospect of having the whole month is just too nice!
So introducing (with a formal flourish) the Berlin Round Bag! This one is 10″ diameter so room for everything and the strap gives the possibility of a cross body option. You can make the strap longer too if you need it – just be aware that you may need more fabric.
There are two lined slip pockets on the inside of the bag and a secure zipper pocket on the front.
I have really gone to town with some nice hardware too which adds to the professional wow! factor.
Even though it looks so difficult, this is actually a project that a beginner with some skills could achieve. There are many hints and tips in the very detailed pattern and also clear step photos of the main points. Best of all (I think) I show you a nifty trick of how to draft a circle of any size!
To make this even more achievable, I have written a couple of specific blog posts which you can find here and here to help with some of the techniques. Actually do check those posts out while you are here anyway- you can see some more photos of the inside of the bag.

So I shall leave it with you. Have a look around and above all, have fun with your sewing and stay safe!
